    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
    • Driving positions require: Must be at least 21 years of age; have a current AZ Driver's License and be insurable under TCH automobile policy.
    • Must have a certified disability.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
    • Ability to be detail oriented.
    • Knowledge of floor care, cleaning techniques, supplies, safety measures, and equipment used in custodial activities.
    • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written).
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of people.

    Environmental Factors:

    This position works in an office setting on military bases, with moderate noise levels.

    Mental Demands:

    Generally, this position requires constant oral communication, concentration, creativity, perception, and organization; with frequent interruptions.

    Custodian / Janitor (On the job training)

    Job Purpose:

    Performs routine custodial duties for an assigned building according to contract specifications.

    Essential Functions (Major Duties and Responsibilities):

    • Performs all custodial duties as needed; ensure all floors are maintained according to the schedule (vacuuming, waxing, buffing, stripping and sealing).
    • Cleans and restocks restrooms daily.
    • Empties all trash cans into the dumpster.
    • Ensures equipment is utilized, maintained, and operated safely at all times.
    • All employees are required to perform the following essential functions: demonstrate predictable, reliable and timely attendance; follow written and verbal directions and complete assigned tasks on schedule; read, write and communicate in English; communicate in-person and by telephone, cell phone, email or text message in accordance with TCH policy; learn from directions, observations and mistakes; apply procedures using good judgment; work independently, or as part of a team; interact appropriately with others; and work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or corrective action.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Adheres to all policies and procedures.
    • Completes and maintains required trainings.
    • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, management, vendors and others associated with the organization.
    • Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:

    This position requires the ability to safely lift up to 25lbs, pull/push up to 25lbs, and carry up to 25lbs.

    Generally, this position involves constant standing, walking, hearing, lifting, balancing, crouching, reaching, handing, kneeling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, eye/hand/foot coordination, bending/stooping, and repetitive motion; frequent, carrying and pushing.

    TCH conducts Open Interviews each Wednesday at our Tempe Headquarters (215 W. Lodge Drive, Tempe, 85283) from 9am-1pm.
