    This Vice President functions as the strategic business leader for the restaurant and bar global discipline Center of Expertise (COE), which comprises design and operations strategies for restaurants, bars and foodservice across the company's hotels globally. The leader will provide deep discipline expertise, advice and connectivity to ensure best practice sharing across the Continents, as well as Brand, Discipline and Global Operations (GO) support. The Leader champions cross-Continent discipline connectivity by leading and working through the discipline's Global Leadership Team (GLT) to identify and align on priority initiatives including the recognition of larger platform opportunities.

    This individual drives strategies, including a discipline-specific business strategy, to support synergies between discipline areas and brands, and support continual investment in resources to ensure the talent is in place to provide quality support on assigned projects. The role is responsible for providing restaurant and bar support for key projects, while ensuring the integrity of the concept and design development processes through soft opening, tracking projects and reporting progress to the Senior Vice President, Food & Beverage and global discipline leaders. This VP will also support other F&B brand segment and portfolio work as needed based on broader F&B team priorities.

    In addition, the VP, Restaurant and Bar will be responsible for leading beverage driven initiatives across the company's 30 brands and management of the company's global beverage program. Strategies designed to streamline and optimize concept + design development processes, maximize restaurant and bar operations success, as well as manage third party restaurateur engagement efforts are key focus areas.

    Key accountabilities include: leading global restaurant and bar strategy and operations, bringing a restaurant and bar design and operational perspective to projects; partnering with brand, discipline, continent and corporate stakeholders to provide innovative solutions to drive the guest experience in support of F&B performance and strategic growth goals; leading collaborative product and service development, restaurant and bar standards, and lessons learned; continually monitoring current business processes, making recommendations and oversee the implementation of approved changes as required; mentoring design and development team members to facilitate professional growth.


    Education and Experience

    Required Education

    • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Science, or related major plus 6 years' experience in Operations or related professional area;


    • 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Science, or related major plus 4 years' experience in Operations or related professional area.

    Required Experience

    • 10+ years of business management or hotel leadership experience

    • Broad experience in Restaurant & Bar management or space concepting and product and service development

    • Direct experience managing creative teams and individuals in challenging projects

    • Direct management of large, cross functional, or matrixed teams

    • Elevated sense of design

    Preferred Experience

    • Proven track record of success working in or with fast-paced, consumer focused design organizations known for development capabilities

    • Strong knowledge of the competitive landscape and must be able to remain current with industry trends and connected with discipline-related forums

    • Deep knowledge of product and service development and thorough understanding of the global impact of new products and services on consumer behavior and the supply chain

    • Experience guiding insight synthesis and identifying emerging opportunities based on a combination of industry analysis, company analysis, stakeholder and subject matter expert input, and trend evaluation

    • Demonstrated success leading large scale initiatives/transformations across an enterprise and associated change management

    • Proven experience introducing and implementing cutting edge ideas; conception through final delivery

    • Ability to articulate new concepts clearly and in a compelling way

    • Strong negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills

    • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment within budgets and timelines

    • Knowledge of business environment, service requirements, and culture

    • Demonstrated ability to assess stakeholder needs, creatively approach solutions, and decide and influence appropriate courses of action

    • Graduate/post graduate degree


    • Champions a customer-centric design environment that increases customer loyalty and drives brand awareness through continuous enhancement and innovation

    • Plays subject matter expert role on design and development project teams. Supports the broader design and development team in translating requirements into compelling customer driven and profitable product or service solutions

    • Acts as the company's subject matter expert regarding discipline programs for constituencies, both internal and external

    • Leads cross-Continent connectivity through the Global Leadership Team (GLT). Develops suite of tools and resources for Continents to leverage and share best practices and facilitate expertise sharing

    • Researches discipline trends and competition; surfaces big ideas. Conducts forward-thinking research to understand market needs and the skills needed in the design and discipline talent within Global Operations (GO), and to also remain competitive in the products and services provided GO

    • Advises and informs on strategy and standards

    • Manages discipline partnerships and platforms

    • Manages beverage portfolio and associated program development and maintenance efforts

    • Oversees the design and development of a limited number of agreed upon discipline initiatives

    • Provides consulting to Brands and Continents, as requested

    • Researches new technologies, potential vendor partnerships and alliances

    • Ensures solution stays on strategy and aligned with the original business case and requirements

    • Together with other Global Operations leaders, establishes and ensures adherence to core work processes that drive innovation, enhance, brand differentiation, and enable speed to market in the areas of Design and the Disciplines

    • Working through the GLT, develops suite of standard tools and materials for discipline areas for Continents to leverage, including management curriculum, training materials and performance management supports

    • Analyzes trends and competitive landscape and influences changes to strategies

    • Represents Continent needs and perspective in global discipline forums

    • Travel required, at times to remote locations

    Discipline / Brand / Continent Leadership and Collaboration

    • Demonstrates leadership, maturity and efficiency when managing projects across multiple stakeholders in high pressure environments

    • Provides regular updates and communicates project or initiative progress clearly and effectively to keep leaders aware and aligned relative to project progress

    • Effectively manages multiple, complex projects which may originate from Discipline, Brand and Continent, balancing focus, capacity and resourcing to deliver against expectations

    • Works effectively with multiple stakeholders across Discipline / Brand / Continent to build productive relationships and maximize successful outcomes

    • Understands industry trends underway and their implications for the F&B discipline and our brands

    • Applies innovation principles and practices around collaboration, co-creation and creativity to deliver expansive ideas and operational solutions

    • Demonstrates confidence and leadership in bringing new, provocative ideas forward which expand thinking and lead to more innovative outcomes which drive relevance and returns

    • Demonstrates creativity in problem-solving, content development, program branding and communication to ensure relevant, emotionally engaging F&B programs, restaurant and bar programs

    • Leads and learns constantly through collaborating with team members within and beyond the team, and within and beyond the hospitality segment

    • Unafraid to try new approaches and ideas, leveraging innovation processes and design thinking to drive experimentation, fast failure and constant learning

    Talent Management

    • Directs the day to day activities of the Restaurant & Bar discipline team with GO and ensures the team meets defined objectives

    • Supports discipline-specific talent process and platforms

    • Provides discipline knowledge and guidance to design team members

    • Partners with Human Resources to attract, develop, and retain the right people to support the strategic priorities of the GO organization. Ensure effective structures, processes, jobs, and performance management systems are in place. Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the LPP, aligns performance and rewards, appropriately addresses performance issues and holds staff accountable for successful results

    • Champions leadership development and workforce planning priorities by assessing, selecting, retaining, and developing diverse, high-caliber talent that can lead the organization today and strengthen leadership bench for the future; continues to upgrade talent, works with Human Resources to anticipate future talent needs based on business plans

    • Creates and sustains a work environment that focuses on fair and equitable treatment and associate satisfaction to enable business success

    • Identifies, trains, and mentors talent

    • Transfers functional knowledge and develop Operations acumen of GO associates
